The Chicago Blackhawks are proud to announce the return of our ‘Try Hockey for Free’ event designed to help kids overcome the initial barriers to the sport and encourage them to come back for more. In partnership with several community ice rinks across the state of Illinois, and bordering states of Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan, the two-day event is set to take place the weekend of Oct. 12-13.

Each participating rink will host one or two back-to-back sessions for beginning skaters aged 4-10. Each participant who attends the event will receive a Blackhawks branded jersey, a black Connor Bedard t-shirt, a Sherwood hockey stick and a ticket to a Blackhawks game for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Skate rentals will be provided for free courtesy of participating rinks; participants will be responsible for bringing their own helmet (e.g., bike helmet, hockey helmet, etc.).

Advanced registration is strongly encouraged as very limited walk-ups will be accepted.
