Glencoe DekHockey (Session 2) Ice Hockey
The Chicago Blackhawks are proud to announce the return of our ‘Try Hockey for Free’ event designed to help kids overcome the initial barriers to the sport and get them excited to come back for more. In partnership with several community ice rinks across the state of Illinois and bordering suburbs of Indiana and Wisconsin, including Fifth Third Arena, the two-day event is set to take place the weekend of Oct. 12-13.
At Glencoe DekHockey, players will be introduced to the game of Dek Hockey, a variation of ice hockey. Dek Hockey is played on a tiled court with a ball instead of a puck. This sport is a great starting point to understand the basic skills of hockey (stickhandling, passing, and shooting) before trying to learn how to skate. Glencoe will host two back-to-back sessions for those interested in learning the sport of hockey. Each participant who attends the event will receive a Blackhawks branded jersey, a black Connor Bedard t-shirt, a Sherwood hockey stick and a ticket to a Blackhawks game for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Advanced registration is strongly encouraged as very limited walk-ups will be accepted.
